Ecuador

South America

Ecuador straddles the equator on South America’s west coast, with the Pacific Ocean to the west. It is bordered by Colombia and Peru, and is also the departure point for the wildlife-rich Galápagos Islands.

What does Ecuador offer? – Cultural cities, sightseeing, history, landscapes, Andean scenery, wildlife, birdlife, the Amazon rainforest, volcanoes and cloud forests.

Quito is Ecuador’s capital city, surrounded by spectacular mountains and volcanoes.  Located on the slopes of the Pichincha volcano and founded on the ruins of an Inca city, Quito is the second highest capital in the world.  Visitors to Quito will enjoy its rich cultural heritage, as they wander its old streets and enjoy the wonderful landscapes wherever they look.

A haven for hiking, birdwatching and wildlife, Ecuador is full of natural beauty including white-sand beaches, Amazonian rainforest and breathtaking Andes backdrops.

Of course, Ecuador is also known as the gateway to the Galápagos Islands. Visitors will be dazzled by the natural beauty and diversity of plant and animal species.  Visit the Charles Darwin Research Station and see giant turtles, marine iguanas, sea lions and blue-footed boobies, just a few of the amazing creatures which live here.
